Dana White was caught off guard by a retirement announcement in the aftermath of UFC 330.
Everyone expected Edson Barboza to call it a day after his fourth loss in a row on Saturday night.
However, no one thought a beloved coach would follow in the 40-year-old Brazilian’s footsteps by retiring from MMA.

Din Thomas retires from cornering fighters
Fan favorite UFC analyst Din Thomas was Gillian Robertson‘s cornerman during the UFC 330 co-main event.
After her co-main event unanimous decision defeat to strawweight queen Mackenzie Dern, Thomas announced he was officially quitting coaching.
“I do have an announcement for you guys,” he said during the UFC 330 Post-Fight Show.
“I told myself I would continue to do this until I took Gillian as far as she could go. I think that might be as far as she can go, and I am officially retiring from cornering fighters tonight.
“It’s a lot of work. It’s a lot of stress. You gotta be there all week. And again, like I’ve been slowly telling you, I don’t cut weight with them. And it’s not fair to them. They need somebody who’s gonna really put that type of work in with them.”

Dana White confused by Din Thomas retiring
Dana White and Din Thomas are personal friends who work on ‘Lookin’ For A Fight’ together.
The UFC boss was left shell-shocked after a reporter told him Thomas had quit cornering fighters after UFC 330.
“That’s weird. He didn’t say anything to me,” White said.
“I didn’t know about that. I’ve never heard about retiring from cornering.
“That might be a first. That’s the first I’ve ever heard of it.
“Maybe he’s just tired of the grind. You know, he’s worked with so many fighters over the years.
“Maybe he’s just burnt out.”
