Tennis Serena Williams said that conversations about Black women in sport had “changed”. The 44-year-old won 23 Grand Slams in a 27-year career and opened up to Porter magazine on her experiences as a Black woman athlete.
Williams said: “Growing-up and being Black is just like, well that comes with negativity. I don’t know what the noise is. “Everyone is entitled to an opinion.”

The tennis player has been credited for her role in changing the game. She also said that the conversation about Black women in sports had “changed”.
She said, “Nobody calls these girls what I used to be called. We were called men, women and other things.
“But I am so glad that girls today don’t have as much to endure.”
Williams is statistically the greatest tennis star of her time. She played on the WTA Tour 1,011 times and faced opponents in every year of her career, from 1966 to 2003.
