Sean Strickland responded to Khamzat Chimaev’s comments that he would ‘kill’ him in the streets.
In under a month’s time, Khamzat Chimaev and Sean Strickland will clash in Newark, New Jersey in the UFC 328 main event for the middleweight title.
The pair of middleweights have been locked into a rivalry ever since ‘Borz’ left Xtreme Couture , with the pair having different recollections of how their sparring sessions used to go.
And with their rivalry being so resentful, Dana White recently revealed that part of the usual pre-fight buildup won’t take place in an attempt to avoid any unnecessary clashes.
Strickland drops his location after Chimaev made street fight comments
This past week, Chimaev failed to offer reassurance regarding potential pre-fight clashes when he was asked about bumping into Strickland and his team during fight week.
When asked if he would try and ‘kill’ Strickland in the cage, ‘Borz’ stated that he won’t be able to in the cage but said that if he sees him on the streets, things might be different.
And this past Saturday, Strickland found himself in Newport Beach, California, where Chimaev is currently training at the Santo Studios.
After hearing the champion’s recent comments, Strickland shared his location to see if the champion would stick to his word by finding him on the streets.
“So guys, I generally don’t post my location or drop pins where I’m at, I don’t like to but I was on Instagram and I saw some stupid s— pop up on my feed of Chimaev saying he would try and fight me or kill me on the streets,” Strickland said in a post.
“Dude, I was like 10 minutes away from your gym, I was dropping tags and locations all day on my Instagram, your homies who you train with follow me, they were seeing my story, you had to know where I was at. 10 minutes from your gym, bro, I was probably right down the street from you.
“I thought, part of me thought you’d show up but as we all know with (Paulo) Costa, when he pulled your card, ‘hold me back’, but man, I’m like the last dude in America you should threaten.”
