Brendan Schaub does not seem to think too highly of Islam Makhachev’s accomplishments.
The UFC welterweight champion has the chance to record a successful title defense in a second division after achieving multi-weight glory last November.

Brendan Schaub downplays Islam Makhachev’s claim to GOAT status ahead of UFC 330
Having long been a staunch supporter of Jon Jones’ claim to the crown, Dana White says Makhachev could be the GOAT if he defeats Garry in the UFC 330 main event.
Talk of the Dagestani rising all the way to the all-time mountaintop comes after many had already began to put his lightweight legacy above that of his friend and mentor, Khabib Nurmagomedov.
But like ‘The Eagle’, Schaub thinks Makhachev lacks enough quality wins on his record to have a claim over the likes of Jones and Georges St-Pierre.
“It would be tough to claim him (GOAT) off of his resume,” Schaub said during a live stream on his YouTube channel. “I’m not being an Islam hater, but let’s go through it.
“His first win at welterweight, he beat JDM. How’s JDM doing these days? He defended a shot against Renato Moicano, Dustin Poirier in 2024, okay. And then (Alexander) Volkanovski, who’s not really a ’55er, struggled with him in the first fight.
“Charles Oliveira is his best win, and that was in 2022,” he continued. “Based off his resume, I don’t have him in the top 10.
“I’m not hating, it’s just his strength of schedule is so weak. His resume is weak as f—. It’s the problem with Khabib too.”

Makhachev will also be able to call himself the sole holder of the longest winning streak in UFC history if he beats ‘The Future’ in Philadelphia.
He is currently tied with Anderson Silva for the record with 16 victories in a row. If he records a 17th, Makhachev plans to continue on until he reaches at least 20 consecutive UFC…
