Séamus Power sits seven shots off the lead following the opening round of the Wyndham Championship.
In the regular season finale in North Carolina, with the Fed Ex play-offs to come, players are chasing hard for coveted spots and at present, it’s American Beau Hossler who leads the way after a nine-under-par 61 opener.
Beau Hossler carded a fine round of 61 to take the first-round lead at the Wyndham Championship at Sedgefield Country Club.
Hossler carded seven birdies and holed from 27 feet for an eagle on the par-five 15th at Sedgefield Country Club..
The 31-year-old finished one ahead of Sahith Theegala and Ben James on the day, with the latter bogeying the 18th to spoil his chances of sharing the top spot overnight.
Defending champion Cameron Young, also the highest-ranked player in the field as world number three, struggled with a one-over score of 71 and faces a battle to make the cut.

Power sits just outside the top 50 after his first round.
Having started on the 10th, he was out in 35 with a pair of birdies and bogeys on his card. There would be no more dropped shots, and birdies at the first and sixth left him tucked in with a big round needed on Friday.
The first round was suspended due to bad weather with just 12 players left out on course.
