It has been over five months since Kayla Harrison vs Amanda Nunes was postponed.
That highly anticipated clash for the UFC women’s bantamweight championship was scheduled to be the first undisputed title fight of 2026.
Less than two weeks before the first event of the Paramount+ era, however, Harrison withdrew due to a neck injury that required surgery.
Fans have been awaiting news of the fight’s new date and location ever since, and Cris Cyborg may have just revealed both.

Cris Cyborg has ‘heard’ that Amanda Nunes will challenge Kayla Harrison in September
Nunes shut down interim title talk following Harrison’s injury and insisted she would wait for her ex-teammate to heal up before competing again.
‘The Lioness’ gave up her two UFC titles after retiring in 2023 but made a swift decision to return after the woman she used to train with at American Top Team won the championship at 135 pounds.
Harrison was back in training a couple of months after her neck surgery in January, but her exact return timeline remains unconfirmed.
Another of her longtime rivals, PFL champion Cyborg, recently disclosed what she has heard about the UFC’s plan to re-book Harrison vs Nunes this year.
“I hear. I don’t know where I hear, but they say maybe they’re going to fight in September, Amanda and Kayla, in LA,” Cyborg said during the PFL Summer Series media day (h/t Dylan Bowker).
“I’m not sure if I know right, but (I heard) some gossip. But I know Kayla did a surgery and she was recovering.
“I know I’m going to be waiting for this fight. I’m excited to see this fight,” she added.

Harrison submitted Julianna Pena to become UFC champion in June 2025. Nunes has her own history with ‘The Venezuelan Vixen’, having split two fights against her with one win apiece.
The UFC’s numbered event in September is the next major card to be announced. Dana White recently confirmed that Ian Machado Garry will challenge Islam Makhachev for the welterweight title at UFC 330 in August.
