FSU’s Ethan Pritchard out of rehab after shooting, seeks return to football

Ethan Pritchard of Florida State is heading home for his first trip since a shooting on Aug. 31 left him in critical condition. The Seminoles’ linebacker Ethan Pritchard was released from Jacksonville’s rehabilitation facility on Thursday. It marked another significant milestone in the recovery of his injuries. He was in rehab for more than a month after being released from Tallahassee Memorial Hospital on Oct. 9.Pritchard spoke out about the shooting, his recovery and the rehabilitation process. He said that he remembered everything that happened before the shooting. His ultimate goal is to get back on the football field.”It all started with me waking. [my father] Pritchard’s recovery was described as “I was up at 1:30 a.m. just moving my right arm.” “When I got here, my entire right side was immobile. Then, after that, things got even better.
Pritchard, who had just won Florida State’s first game of the season against Alabama, was shot in back of head by mistaken identity. Pritchard was driving home family members from a party in Havana when the incident happened. Pritchard told authorities that he heard shots and shifted the car into reverse before he blacked out. Four suspects were arrested in connection with this shooting. Three men — Jayden BODISON, Caron MILLER and Germany ATKIS — and an unknown minor are facing three counts of attempted homicide and one count for shooting into a vehicle that was occupied. Atkins also faces a charge for probation violation.

Florida State players, coaches, and staff visited Pritchard in the hospital, and cheered him on when he left for the rehabilitation center. Mike Norvell of the Seminoles paid Pritchard a visit shortly after Pritchard had opened his first pair of eyes.Norvell admitted that the experience was emotionally charged for everyone. “It is still a part of progressing in this process but it puts things into perspective — the appreciation for just a blink.Florida State recognized Pritchard at the first game after the incident. He was a three-star recruit for the class of 2025 and a true freshmen. His teammates, as well as other tributes, carried his jersey from midfield to the coin toss.

Pritchard was a Sanford Seminole graduate and a long-time Florida State recruiter. He chose the school over several Power Four programs, including perennial College Football Playoff candidates such as Miami Notre Dame Tennessee. He did not play in the first game of the season against Alabama.
