Now it’s about which team will book the playoff spot – UAE or Iraq. The two teams will play each other South America (CONMEBOL) — The qualifying rounds are done. Argentina, Brazil Colombia, Ecuador Para Bolivia earned a spot in the Chile, Peru, Venezuela, were Europe (UEFA) — England became the first team to book a spot. Spain, France Germany, the Netherlands North America/Central America/Caribbean (CONCACAF) — Aside from the three co-hosts, no one from this region has booked their spot yet. The top two teams of each group progressed to Round 3. The third round began in September, with three groups consisting of four teams. It will end in November. The two best runner-ups get the intercontinental play-off spots. The 11-team qualifier from this region consisting of South Pacific countries and territories concluded in March. The top seven teams from the region were joined by one team that emerged from the first round. Eight teams were divided into two groups in Round 2. The top two teams of each group advanced to the semi-finals. You can find the complete final standings here. What’s next for November? There are 54 teams (excluding Russia) who started the qualifying process in march. There are 12 groups, each with four or five teams. The four Nations League Group winners who didn’t finish first or second in their World Cup Qualifying group are added to the 12 runners up. The 16 teams that qualify will be bracketed in order to determine the four remaining World Cup places for March 2026. England was the only team who has already qualified, and other teams such as Portugal, Spain, France, will have to wait until the November matches. The intercontinental playoff is not an option for European teams to reach the World Cup.
