Another blank, this time against bottom side Wolves, meant the £55m signing from Sporting has failed to score in 11 out of 14 Premier League appearances this season. This is almost the opposite of Haaland, and is growing to be a source of concern.
This may appear to be an unfair comparison. This is the standard. Haaland has now scored 17 Premier League goals this season, after scoring against Crystal Palace. The total was higher at the same stage of his first season, and no bed-in period was required.
Arsenal is the team, not Manchester CityThey are currently at the top of their game. They are still a formidable collective. However, the “major effect” that Andrea Berta predicted when Gyokeres signed him in July has not yet materialised.
He was touted as the No. 9 ready to go, with a scoring record similar to Haaland’s. It is a worry that the physical advantages of his time in Portugal are now lost in the Premier League, which has much more demanding conditions.
