Farid Basharat wants to stay with the UFC
Farid Basharat confirmed he was approaching free agency in the build-up to his latest fight.
After his UFC 329 victory, the 28-year-old told Joe Rogan that his current contract has expired.
Basharat expressed his desire to remain with MMA’s premier promotion, even though more lucrative opportunities could be found outside the UFC.
“This was the last fight on my contract,” he told the long-time UFC commentator. “
“I love this organization. I’m 16-0. I have the longest win streak in the division. I think I deserve a new contract, first and foremost. Don’t you think so?
“I wanna be the best in the world. The UFC is my dream since I was 10 years old. As long as I stay in this organization, I know that I’m gonna be a champion.
“I think I’m the most underrated fighter on this roster. I think I’m the most well-rounded guy on this roster, and I know I’m gonna be the champion of this weight division.
“I just need an opportunity to fight up [the rankings]. I need that top 12, top 10 [opponent]. I’m gonna be champion. I know it. I just need the opportunity to keep fighting in this organization.”
