Two fighters who are competing on the UFC White House event will be without their longtime head coach.
After several months of well-documented build-up, the UFC White House event is now only 11 days away and the anticipation is at an all-time high.
During the build-up Donald Trump claiming that there would be 8-9 title fights on the event, there are only seven fights on the entire card, two of which are title fights.
And with that, the spectacle of an event will be opened up by a featherweight fight between former title challenger Diego Lopes and Steve Garcia.
Garcia won’t have longtime head coach in his corner for White House fight
Garcia is on an extremely impressive seven-fight win streak which has seen him climb into featherweight title contention.
Lopes, on the other hand, has fought for the title twice in the past year, losing on both occasions to Alexander Volkanovski.
Throughout his impressive run in the premier promotion, Garcia has done it under the tutelage of Jackson Wink head coach, Greg Jackson.
However, for what is arguably the biggest fight of his career thus far, Garcia will be doing it without the legendary Jackson in his corner.
Soon after Josh Hokit’s fight against Derrick Lewis was announced as a late addition to the card, ‘The Incredible Hok’ revealed that Jackson wouldn’t be attending the event due to ‘personal reasons’.
“I always love having Greg in my corner,” Garcia told MMAJunkie.
“Greg has been in my corner for the last several years, especially in the UFC, along with prior to that. But I’ve also fought without him in my corner for many years, too. So it’s not like it’s unusual. But he’s been very active in this training camp. We meet every single day and have multiple privates all the time in preparation for this fight.”

With a win over the Brazilian fan-favourite, Garcia could likely secure himself a shot at the title, with Volkanovski likely to defend his belt against Movsar Evloev next.
“As far as getting the opportunity, absolutely. The opportunity at hand is something that could definitely elevate me, and I get the opportunity to rise to this challenge and do it on the White House (event) is something special. So I’m excited about that part.”
