UFC 328 is now up to 14 fights as another clash at lightweight has been added to the card.
On May 9, the premier promotion returns to Newark, New Jersey for UFC 328, headlined by a middleweight title fight between Khamzat Chimaev and Sean Strickland.
Not only that, but after Joshua Van withdrew from his scheduled UFC 327 title fight, his title defense against Tatsuro Taira was added to the May 9th card and will serve as the co-main event.
And now, another high-profile fight has been added to the card, including lightweight contenders who are also teammates.
Grant Dawson vs Mateusz Rebecki added to UFC 328
On Thursday afternoon, the premier MMA promotion announced another exciting fight had been added to the UFC 328 card.
Mateusz Rebecki looks to bounce back from back-to-back losses when he takes on longtime lightweight contender, Grant Dawson.
‘KGD’ Dawson was riding an impressive three-fight win streak before being knocked out by Manel Torres last time out.
Interestingly, the UFC 328 storyline is dominated by the fact that Chimaev and Strickland used to be teammates and partners at Xtreme Couture.
That is the same case for Dawson and Rebecki, who both train with each other at American Top Team, where they will likely both be preparing for their fight against each other.
This isn’t the first time the Polish fighter has fought one of his teammates as two fights ago, he fought Chris Duncan, who is not only his teammate but also his next door neighbor, living in the dorms of the gym.
Dawson is 14 fights into his UFC tenure, and at one point, it seemed as though he could be a dark horse in the 155lb division.
