Top 10 UFC contender handed nine-month suspension for failed drug test

A ranked UFC fighter has learned her fate after testing positive for a banned substance last year.

After winning six of her last seven fights inside the Octagon, Iasmin Lucindo was hoping to make a charge toward the women’s strawweight title.

The Brazilian’s victory over Angela Hill last August cemented her as the No. 7-ranked contender at 115 pounds, but her momentum has taken a hit.

She was pulled from a scheduled clash with submission specialist Gillian Robertson at UFC Vegas 112 in December and temporarily suspended after testing positive for a banned substance.

The investigation into that has concluded, and Lucindo now knows how long she will be sidelined.
