Notre Dame’s win over Boston College plays like a loss, so Irish get ‘C’ grade in Week 10. Here’s how 7 other contenders fared

No. Notre Dame stayed on a tightrope as it approached College Football The 25-10 victory over Boston College was not pretty. If the Fighting Irish are to be in the 12-team playoff field for a 2nd straight year, style points will matter. And there was nothing stylish about the win over the one-win Eagles. The sluggishness may be due to a hangover from a crucial victory against rival USC the week before. It doesn’t matter what the reason is. If the Fighting Irish are to avoid the inevitable criticism of their lackluster victories, they should start winning in a more impressive manner. The remaining opponents are Navy, Pitt Syracuse and Stanford. The Fighting Irish are not ranked. And performances like Saturday’s, despite the fact that it was a win, will do little to convince anyone of their rightful place in the CFP. Notre Dame is given a C grade for the ugly victory. Below we give out seven additional grades from Week 10. One for every team who started or finished the day with odds of national championships of +3000. No. 3 Texas A&M (+950), No. No. Both No. 6 Oregon (plus 1000) and No. 4 Alabama (+750), were off.

FanDuel Sportsbook has provided the following odds on 2025 national championships. The teams are listed according to their AP Top 25 ranking.

No. 1 Ohio StateGrade: AResult: 38-14 win vs. Penn StateTitle odds: +220Ohio State’s dominance was on full display in a decisive third quarter. The Buckeyes played with great precision, and inflicted several punishing sacks against Penn State on third-down. This multi-faceted offensive surge transformed a tight match into another blowout, demonstrating the Buckeyes elite potential. It’s only because the running game is so mediocre that this doesn’t get an A+.

No. 2 IndianaGrade: AResult: 55-10 win at MarylandTitle odds: +500Indiana sputtered early before igniting for its third Big Ten victory with a margin of 45+ points. The Hoosiers were able to force (or be gifted) five mistakes while running around, over and through Maryland. Indiana’s three players rushed for 80 yards or more and scored a touchdown in the game, which was played against Maryland.

No. 5 GeorgiaGrade: B-Result: 24-20 win vs. FloridaTitle odds: +1100Georgia’s offense was an erratic mixture of explosive plays and listless possessions. The defense played well in the final quarter, but was not disruptive at all. This was not a dominant performance from the Bulldogs. This was a gritty, rivalry win that was defined by clutch execution from both sides. It’s the final result that counts.

No. 7 Ole MissGrade: B+Result: 30-14 win vs. South CarolinaTitle odds: +1700With the Ole Miss passing attack mired in a rare off night, its rushing attack and defense picked up the slack. Kewan lacy ran for a total of 167 yard, including 54-yard touchdown with 5:44 to go, to beat the Gamecocks. The defense produced 6 sacks, and South Carolina was held to 230 yard.

No. 9 VanderbiltGrade: CResult: 34-31 loss at No. 20 TexasTitle odds: +8000Shoddy tackling, a crushing early fumble and a general lack of defensive disruption left Vanderbilt in a 24-point hole entering the fourth quarter. The Commodores should be commended, especially quarterback Diego Pavia for his epic rally. The defense did not put on a performance worthy of a playoff.

No. 10 MiamiGrade: DResult: 26-20 loss at SMUTitle odds: +6500Miami lost in overtime, but it never should have been there in the first place. Hurricanes’ lack of discipline in the late game and their poor awareness led to them being penalized 12 time for 96 yards. Carson Beck was not at fault for the early interception that led to a SMU touchdown. The ‘Canes weren’t able to hold their line, which probably cost them a place in the ACC Championship Game.

Mario Cristobal screwed up last year’s number one NFL Draft pick. The talent Cristobal wasted in 2025 will be even more shocking than his blundering of the No.

    Shehan Jeyarajah

No. 13 Texas TechGrade: A-Result: 43-20 win at Kansas StateTitle odds: +2000Texas Tech’s first quarter left a lot to be desired, but the Red Raiders eventually broke the will of a Kansas State team that had been playing well. The Wildcats gave up five turnovers, two of which were caused by TTU’s star linebacker Jacob Rodriguez. They also couldn’t stop Texas Tech from advancing into their backfield. Behren Morton’s healthy return was another sight to behold.
