Muhammad Mokaev had the opportunity to compete on Friday for the gold medal in flyweight, but outside the UFC.
Mokaev was booked to compete for the inaugural Brave flyweight title at the promotion’s 100th event on November 7. The undefeated fighter has won back-to-back fights after going 7-0 in the Octagon since Dana White dropped him last year.
Mokaev’s return to UFC would have been a step closer if he had won the gold medal by beating Gerard Burns. In Bahrain, ‘The Punisher’ looked to get his hand raised against yet another opponent who was confident of taking his undefeated crown.
