Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw has signed a new four-year contract at Manchester City.
The Women’s Super League Golden Boot winner was set to leave the club – but announced she is staying during Man City’s parade to celebrate winning the title.
“I’m still here, I’m still hungry and there’s no place I’d rather be,” she announced to the fans.
“After months of waiting, I’m happy to announce that I’m staying at the football club.”Shaw’s contract is a record in the women’s game. After months of negotiations Man City not only matched but bettered Chelsea’s offer of more than £1.2m per season.
Shaw’s contract also betters the £1.18m per-year deal San Diego Wave gave Catarina Macario earlier this year, which was $8m (£5.9m) over five years.

Shaw told Sky Sports last week Manchester was “home” and City were keen to reward the Jamaica striker for her on-field excellence, and connection with the club and its fans since joining.
