Josh Hokit has told Daniel Cormier that he should consider fighting him as their war of words begins to heat up.
After an impressive knockout win over Derrick Lewis, Hokit used his time on the microphone to let out an ill-advised jab at the former First Lady Michelle Obama. Known in MMA circles for his outlandish characters and interviews, this was a new level of scrutiny for the former NFL star.
His comments trended worldwide across political and sporting boundaries, particularly given that they were made in the Obamas’ former home. They were quickly disavowed by Dana White, who also advocated for his freedom of speech in the same breath.

Josh Hokit bashes Daniel Cormier in brutal clapback
One particularly vocal critic of Josh Hokit’s joke was former two-weight world champion Daniel Cormier. He was commentating at cageside, and took to social media to defend the former First Lady from his fellow fighters.
This clearly rubbed up the undefeated heavyweight the wrong way, as he took to X to write back: “I’ve been nothing but nice to this fat cow pig… I’m not here for unity, in reality there will never be unity… I come to divide people’s faces… If you don’t like it then come do something about it…”
For context, Cormier’s message was as follows: “Josh Hokit made a comment in the Octagon after he won his fight — it was completely uncalled for.
“The comments he made just made no sense. It was unnecessary. He started his post-fight interview and was going to do one of those gimmicky things — honestly, it’s lame as f—.
“He stopped himself and did a (normal) interview. It was good. He could have left and he could have made more fans. They would have gotten to see Josh Hokit.
“Instead, he goes and says the thing about Michelle Obama, who is the classiest person you will ever meet,” he continued. “She has only represented herself, her family, and this country with grace and class.
“That’s the type of statement that divides… I absolutely hated that. He needs to do better… There was no gain in Josh Hokit doing that. It was disgusting. Get it together dude.”
