Jaz Brown didn’t take the traditional route into playing professional netball, unlike many players who start playing from very young and grow in the system. She started out playing tennis. It was not until Brown was seventeen that she changed courts and switched from her tennis skirt to a netball outfit.
She played in all three of the games against New Zealand last month.

Brown said: “It’s a journey of a lifetime and a quarter.”Brown said, “It has been a journey and a half, to say the least.”
“My coach said I would never be a professional player of netball.
“It’s difficult, both in the English league and in juniors. If you don’t make it out of under-21s but your name isn’t on the list, you’re probably not going to be considered for many things.”
Brown, having grown up playing the sport of tennis, would realize that it was not something she loved enough to dedicate so much time. She stopped playing tennis and her desire to remain active led to her taking up netball.

She began playing in a local netball league as a substitute, but quickly settled in to a position of defender. Charnwood, her team, was able to move up unexpectedly into the Premier League Netball.Brown said, “I’m lucky to have a mindset that I don’t care what anyone says. I will do it regardless.””I feel like looking back and if I was still in that position, I would definitely say just to keep on going and don’t give a c**p about what anyone thinks or says and just prove them wrong.”That’s for any young boy or girl who’s in the same position as me.
