Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels, who dislocated his left elbow late in Sunday night’s 38-14 loss to theĀ Seattle Seahawks, avoided a serious injury and will not require surgery, CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones reported Friday. He won’t be put on injured reserves and will instead undergo a reevaluation during Week 12, when the Commanders are off.Dan Quinn, the Commanders’ coach said that it was a great deal to avoid surgery. “Obviously, it makes a difference when you’re injured not having to go that route. I will give you a status update after the break about how he’s doing and what our next steps are. After that, i’ll update you on the situation and give us two weeks to reach that area. “Daniels was hurt when Seahawks’ linebacker Drake Thomas tackled his with less than 8 minutes left to play. The Commanders were trailing 38-8. Daniels tried to stabilize himself by using his non-throwing hand. However, when he landed on the grass his left arm bent inwards, at an unnatural position.
Daniels, who was scheduled to undergo an MRI in the coming week, was originally expected to be placed on injury reserve. However, a further evaluation revealed that no ligament damage had occurred, and Washington was able to keep Daniels on their active roster.
Dan Quinn accepts responsibility for Jayden’s fallout, including not removing the QB before the blowout defeat.

Quinn was criticized by many for keeping his quarterback in the match when the game was already over. Quinn admitted on Monday that he made the wrong decision and should have taken Daniels out earlier.”I know you’ve all asked about Jayden playing in that situation. Quinn acknowledged that he understood. “I missed it,” Quinn said.
Daniels has had a tough sophomore season. He missed two games due to an ankle injury sustained in Week 2 against Packers, and then sat out Washington’s game in Week 8 with a hamstring strain suffered against Cowboys. Washington finished Sunday with a record of 3-6 after a magical 12-5-0 campaign in 2024 which saw Daniels win Offensive Rookie. Daniels completed 16 of 22 passes for 153 yard with an interception. He also ran 10 times for 51 yard and a score. Marcus Mariota replaced Daniels, who had started the three previous games Daniels missed this season. Mariota completed a touchdown. Mariotta is 1-2 for the Commanders this season.
Mariota is set to start Sunday when the Commanders take on the Detroit Lions.Ā
