Jake Paul’s brave effort to take on a generational heavyweight great in Anthony Joshua went much better than planned tonight.
The Kaseya Center in Miami played host to a massive night of fights on Netflix, with Paul swapping out lightweight champion Gervonta Davis for one of heavyweight’s hardest punchers. A packed crowd showed out to see what was expected to be a massacre on paper.
And Joshua, coming off the back of a vicious knockout to Daniel Dubois a year-and-a-half ago and sporting a new team, did not deliver the early knockout viewers expected. It took him into the sixth before a fourth knockdown saw him score the stoppage win.

Prior to fight night, Anthony Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn admitted that they would have accepted literally any stipulation. But Jake Paul didn’t opt to make him wait during a relatively short walk to the ring that paid tribute to late WWE icon Hulk Hogan.
