Islam Makhachev, who is quickly cementing himself as the greatest mixed-martial artist of all time joins the ranks of Jon Jones and Anderson Silva.
Islam Makhachev has just a few days ago cemented his legacy by dethroning Jack Della Maddalena and becoming the new world welterweight champion.
The Russian 34-year old became the latest fighter who has won a championship in two weight classes.
Georges St-Pierre is already on the list, as he is often mentioned in discussions about the greatest fighters of all time, and has held both the middleweight and welterweight titles.

Former UFC champ Makhachev supports St-Pierre’s fantasy fight against Makhachev
Throughout his dominant UFC career, Makhachev’s head coach, Khabib Nurmagomedov, was consistently linked to a potential fight against St-Pierre, but it never came to fruition.
Khabib admitted that even after his abrupt retirement, he had received many offers for him to return. In fact, he was offered the chance to fight against a Canadian.
But now with Makhachev having one-upped his coach by becoming a two-weight world champion, the conversation has shifted towards a fantasy fight between him and ‘Rush’ St-Pierre.
Next, Islam Makhachev should fight who?
And former UFC middleweight champion, Robert Whittaker, has given his take on the fantasy fight, claiming that Makhachev would ‘get it done’.
“That’s tricky because GSP has got a good game to fight Makhachev, he’s like a springy karate-esque fighter,”Whittaker told the MMArcade Podcast.
“He likes punching from outside distance, he loves a scramble, he has really top tier jiu-jitsu, I don’t know, eh.
“Honestly, I think Islam would get it done. If the fight becomes a scramble-off and a wrestle off, Islam’s gonna come out of it better, just because he’s better built for it… Whereas GSP utilized the full toolbox of MMA… If Islam takes you down, you ain’t getting back up,”Whittaker continues.
Can Makhachev be considered the greatest man of all time?
