Islam Makhachev will make his long-awaited welterweight debut this weekend at UFC 322 and is expected to end a streak that stretches back more than two decades.
Islam Makhachev, who won the lightweight title in the summer and was ranked pound for pound as the number one fighter in the division in that time, has a stellar record, having won the most titles in this division.
Makhachev, who will be taking on the newly-minted champion Jack Della Maddalena in UFC 322 to try and join an exclusive group of dual weight champions in promotional histories, shares a common goal with a former light-weight champion.
Makhachev, however, will need to end a streak going back as far as 2004 to become a member of the Hall of Fame.
