How Dana White plans to tackle the UFC’s eye poke problem in 2026

Dana White is hoping he can solve the UFC’s eye poke problem in the near future.

The UFC boss doesn’t believe he’ll ever be able to eradicate the debilitating foul from MMA.

Dana White, however, insists that something must be changed following the controversy of UFC 321 last October.

Tom Aspinall, the UFC heavyweight champ, was unable continue the match after Ciryl Gane poked him in the eye in the opening round of the main event.

Dana White wants tougher eye poke penalties

Dana White was recently asked by a podcast host how he could prevent UFC 321 from happening again in the future.

The reality is, he can’t. Still, the MMA mogul thinks that tougher punishments would encourage fighters to be more careful when pointing their finger at their opponents.

“Getting poked in the eye by anybody isn’t good,” White said on the Triggernometry podcast.

“We’ve messed around with gloves, we’ve tried to do all these things.

“I think the big talk is if there’s harder penalties for doing it, guys would be a lot more conscious of it.

“We will definitely figure something out. It’s like bad decisions, bad referee calls.

“I mean, it’s never going to go away. It’s always going to be here.

“It’s not like we’re going to create some f—ing invention that nobody can get eye poked again.

“It’s just not going to happen.”

You are Dana White for the day, what’s the one change you’d make to the UFC?
