Frankie Edgar can understand where Conor McGregor is coming from despite his failed return.
McGregor has made it clear he won’t be deterred from returning to the Octagon at least one more time following the events of this past weekend.
‘The Notorious’ was back for just 69 seconds after five years away before the referee stepped in to wave his comeback off due to an injury.
Edgar, who previously attempted a return in McGregor’s promotion, reasoned with the Irishman when sharing his thoughts on UFC 329.

Earlier this year, Frankie Edgar urged Alexander Volkanovski to retire because of how few fighters get to leave the sport while still being on top.
Edgar was knocked out in his final UFC fight after announcing ahead of time that his 36th pro fight would be his last dance.
‘The Answer’ and his team previously pushed for a matchup with Conor McGregor when the Irishman was left without an opponent for UFC 189 in 2015.
While Chad Mendes ended up getting the call instead, meaning Edgar didn’t get to share the cage with ‘The Notorious’, he still had some thoughts on this past weekend’s event.
The UFC Hall of Famer explained his stance on McGregor’s comeback when speaking to Bloody Elbow ahead of his RAF 11 match with Clay Guida on July 18.
“Obviously he doesn’t need to come back for money,” Edgar said. “It seems like he’s just coming back to scratch that itch. You know, I get it. I get he’s a competitor. He was on top of the world at one time and you’re always kind of itching to get back to that and it sucks, man. He’s going to have to sit back a whole other year so who knows and hopefully he can get his head right about it.”
