Fantasy Football Week 9 Wide Receiver Preview: Waiver adds, starts, sits, numbers to know, and more

    Imagn Images

This is the week when wide receivers are supposed to look a lot more attractive. Puka Nacua is expected to be back after his injury. Zay Flowers needs to get Lamar Jackson. Marvin Harrison Jr. could get Kyler back. If his recent usage is confirmed, there’s one rookie who may be a must-start if it holds true. He played 87% of offensive snaps, a new season high. Jacksonville’s top receiver led the team in targets (14) and receptions (8). He also scored their only touchdown. This was the best Fantasy wide receiver performance this year against the Rams. Hunter now faces the Raiders Week 9. I admit that I might be more inclined than most to believe Hunter’s breakout. I had him as my number one wideout in this class. I don’t think the defensive aspect has hindered a rookie’s breakout. He hasn’t played more that 40% of the defensive plays since Week 3. It’s not hard to imagine a second-half breakout. The other question is how that would affect Brian Thomas. Thomas could be considered a must start. He needs to stop dropping the football. He dropped the ball more in his first seven games this season than all last year. Drops do not always predict the future. I’m hoping he looks refreshed after his bye, and like a youngster. This could be the final time I make that statement. The rest of our Week 9 WR preview is below:

The Numbers You Need to Know

Rashee Rice is the leading wide receiver with 24. PPR FPPG. He was worth it.16.7% — Xavier Worthy’s target share has dropped to 16.7% since Rice returned. Zay Flowers is fourth in wide receivers with a 30.7% share of targets. Christian Watson averaged a route run of 3.54 yards in his 2025 debut. Watson can be a great desperation flex option in this Packers receiver room. He is tied with Luke McCaffrey, Jalen Cooper and Ja’Marr chase. Ja’Marr has 45.8% of the target share with Joe Flacco in three games. He could be the WR1 again. Davante Adam has already had 11 targets within the five-yard zone. No other wide receivers have more than seven. Buffalo’s pass percentage should increase in Week 9, when they face the Chiefs.
