Dion Dawkins of the Buffalo Bills, and A’Shawn Robinson of the Carolina Panthers got into a scuffle on Sunday after the Bills’ 40-9 thrashing of the Panthers. It appeared that the conflict began with trash talking during the usual handshake between the two teams. According to ESPN Kimberley Martin’s report, Dawkins stated that he was looking up at the scoreboard to see the final score when he said “40-9.” This apparently upset Robinson. Robinson tried to attack Dawkins after an argument. The two were separated by teammates.
Robinson’s anger was a symbol of a tough day for the Panthers. They entered Sunday with great confidence, possessing a record of 4-3 — their first record above.500 after 2021 — and having a perfect 3-0 at home in Bank of America Stadium. Carolina was thrashed 4-4 by Buffalo in the end, proving how far it is from the NFL’s best teams.
