After witnessing the disastrous end to Tom Aspinall vs Ciryl Gane, Dana White changed his mind on a $10 million bet he had planned.
Back in October, the UFC heavyweight title fight between Tom Aspinall and Ciryl Gane ended disastrously when the Frenchman dug his fingers knuckle deep in the champion’s eyes.
Following the fight, UFC boss Dana White provided a reaction to it that has led to his relationship with Aspinall becoming unfortunately tethered.
And the result of that fight led to White pulling the plug on a huge $10 million sports bet that he had planned for the boxing fight between Jake Paul and Anthony Joshua just two months later.
White pulled plug on $10 million bet on Anthony Joshua after Aspinall vs Gane
White has always been a critic of Jake Paul’s involvement in the boxing ring, and before his fight against Joshua, the UFC boss said that everyone involved in that fight should be ’embarrassed’.
That wasn’t going to stop him from attempting to make big money from the fight as he was planning on wagering a huge $10 million bet on the fight.
But he decided to pull the plug on that idea after witnessing the disastrous end between Aspinall and Gane.
“I wanted to bet $10 million on Anthony Joshua, I would’ve bet every f—— thing that I owned in life on that fight,” White recently told the Full Send Podcast.
“Then the Tom Aspinall fight happened, when he got poked in the eye, and I was like, ‘holy s—, what if Jake Paul does some goofy s—?’
“If I were to bet on that fight, I’d have been sitting there freaking out that (Joshua) was gonna blow his ACL out because Jake Paul kept diving at his legs. You never know what’s gonna happen when you sports bet,” he continued.
Despite being willing to wager $10 million, that wouldn’t have netted White a whole lot of money due to how much of a big favorite Joshua was over the rookie. The UFC boss would’ve profited just over $800,000.

‘Bon Gamin’ is set to return to action this coming Sunday at the UFC Freedom 250 event when he takes on Alex Pereira for the interim heavyweight title.
With a win over ‘Poatan’, Gane could secure himself a rematch against the British champion, who still shows no signs of a return any time soon.
