Teams that are looking for wide receivers for the remainder of the season “are monitoring” Chris Olave, who has a $15,5 million club option for 2026, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz. It is possible that neither of these pass catchers will remain with the Saints in the long term. Moving one or both would allow the NFC South to get draft assets in return, which could accelerate the rebuild. Olave was drafted in the first round in 2022 and has posted two seasons in a row with over 1,000 receiving yards. He played only eight games during his third year in 2024 due to injuries, but has now appeared in every game in 2025. The Ohio State product currently has 44 catches, 440 yards, and three touchdowns. He could easily be on his way to a season of more than 1,000 yard, even for the Saints who are struggling. He was a Pro Bowler for 2023 because of his contribution on special teams. This season, he has 30 receptions for 356 yards with two touchdowns. In 2024, he also averaged 17.5 yards per reception. The Saints will face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as well as the Los Angeles Rams just before the trade deadline. If they continue to struggle, it is not surprising that they will trade either or both of their wide receivers.
