Chelsea’s record-breaking 34-game unbeaten run ends with shock defeat to Everton as Man Ci

Chelsea’s 34-match unbeaten streak in the WSL ended abruptly as they lost a shocking 1-0 to Everton. The Toffees, who had won their last eight matches only on the first day of the league season, secured an historic victory thanks to Honoka Hayashi’s goal after 12 minutes.
It was their first defeat in the WSL under Sonia Bompastor and since May 2024. The Blues’ failure to score ended a streak of 31 consecutive league matches in which they had found the back of their net.

Hayashi scored after Toni Payne’s clever ball was flashed into the six-yard area. The Toffees then kept the hosts at a distance. Toffees worked extremely hard, sacrificing their own offensive intent, to limit Chelsea to only 0.49 xG in the entire first half.
Bompastor had many chances to win as the possibility of a rare loss grew closer. But it didn’t work out for them. The woodwork was their biggest enemy.
