Cam Skattebo, the New York Giants runningback, left Sunday’s Philadelphia Eagles game with a horrendous leg injury. With 8:07 remaining in the half, he was carried off the field wearing an air cast. Skattebo, a rookie from Arizona State, appeared to have broken a bone on his lower leg. He will almost certainly be out for a considerable amount of time. Skattebo was one of the Giants’ most exciting prospects, along with Jaxson, another first-year star who won the starting quarterback position.

Skattebo had three carries of 12 yards, and he caught a 18-yard touchdown. Tyrone Tracy Jr. will take over the role of starting running back that he had at the start of the season, as long as Skattebo remains on the bench. Skattebo has 398 yards rushing and five touchdowns. He also added 189 yard and a score in the air during the first seven games. He was promoted to the starting line-up three weeks into his career and has since been one of Giants’ most potent weapons. The three touchdowns he scored against the Eagles in October was a high point for what appears to be an impressive career.
Skattebo has the best odds to win the NFL Offensive rookie of the year award, but he will fall out of it if he is absent for a long time. FanDuel had him at +3000 as the seventh best odds to win. His impressive debut campaign was part of a great year for NFL Rookies. Skattebo, who led all rookies in scrimmage yardage with 587 through seven games, was one of the three rookies that reached the 500-yard milestone. Last season, however, only one first-year football player had reached this threshold after seven weeks.
Skattebo is one of the best steals in the NFL Draft of 2025. Skattebo was selected in the fourth round, but he outperformed all other rookies in terms of total yards before his injury. Skattebo has been a star at all positions for years. He finished fifth in voting for the Heisman Award at Arizona State after making a late push to win the award. He had previously been an FCS All-American at Sacramento State.
