    Boxing’s oldest world champion continues win streak after drug test drama and opponent

    The WBA middleweight champ, who is 42 years old and has been in the ring for a week of chaotic matches, emerged victorious.

    The focus was on a challenger that had not been beaten, who received a reply from Terence Crawford for targeting him before his return to ring on Saturday.

    Janibek Alimkhanuly wanted to earn his third belt as a middleweight by fighting against WBA champion Erislandy Lara.

    However, during fight week, Alimkhanuly was removed from the bout following an adverse finding for a performance-enhancing drug in a VADA test.

    That didn’t stop the man he was set to face from stepping inside the ring on Saturday night against a replacement opponent.

    Erislandy Lara wins eighth consecutive fight in a dominant manner at 42 years of age

    Erislandy Lara won the vacant WBA regular Middleweight title in May of 2021. She had defended her full belt twice, (since she was upgraded as a full champion in 2023) and stepped into the ring for the first time on December 6.

    During the fight week, it was announced that Johan Gonzalez, 34 years old would replace Janibek Alimkhanuly to take on Lara.
