Arkansas is targeting Memphis’ Ryan Silverfield as its next coach, sources confirmed to CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz. Silverfield replaces Sam Pittman. Pittman was fired for a 32 to 34 record over six years with the program. Silverfield became head coach of Memphis in 2020, after serving as offensive line and associate head coaches under Mike Norvell. Silverfield’s 50-24 record over six full seasons includes a Top 25 finish by the AP in 2024. The former offensive-line coach led the Tigers from 21 wins to a 8-4 record at the end of his tenure. Silverfield, unlike his two predecessors in the American Conference, failed to win any conference championships. Silverfield will now head to Arkansas in order to help turn around the program. The Razorbacks, under interim coach Bobby Petrino, lost seven games in a row to finish at 2-10. It was their worst season since Chad Morris’s last one in 2019. The Razorbacks’ winless campaign was just the fourth since the SEC began play more than thirty years ago. The Razorbacks face a challenging schedule in 2026. This includes a road trip in which they will play Utah as part of a nonconference. Arkansas will also play Georgia, LSU, Tennessee, at Texas, at Texas A&M and at Vanderbilt. Silverfield also has to replace Taylen green, Mike Washington, O’Mega Blake and the top quarterback Taylen.

CBS Sports will update the story as soon as possible.
