At 48 years old, Yoel Romero continues to shock the combat sports world with his freak athleticism.
This past Saturday, former UFC middleweight star Yoel Romero returned to combat sports action when he competed at RAF 4 in a wrestling match against Patrick Downey.
‘The Soldier of God’ was originally scheduled to take on current UFC star Bo Nickal, but an injury sidelined Nickal and Downey stepped in on short notice.
At 48-years-old, Romero became the RAF interim light heavyweight champion after beating ‘Bunky’ Downy via tech fall.

Fans react as Romero finishes the year undefeated with title win
Throughout 2025, Romero has competed three times in three different rulesets. The 48-year-old started the year competing on DBX 1, winning via knockout in the third round.
He then returned to BKFC six months later when he took on Theo Doukas, once again scoring an impressive knockout.
Despite nearing 50 years old, Romero continues to showcase his freak athleticism, and why he is one of the most unique fighters on the planet.
