Fans cry ‘fraud check’ as ONE Championship legend loses her UFC Macau debut in one-sided

Xiong Jing Nan’s UFC career did not start well on Saturday.

‘The Panda’ was among the notable names who took to the Octagon during the UFC Macau prelims at the Galaxy Arena.

Her debut against Angela Hill was helping to set the stage for Chinese bantamweight Song Yadong’s main event against Deiveson Figueiredo.

The local fans will be hoping to see their compatriot close out the card with a victory, especially after Xiong was unable to bring home a victory for China in her first Octagon outing.

Angela Hill pitches a shutout against Xiong Jing Nan at UFC Macau

Xiong Jing Nan became the inaugural ONE strawweight (125 pounds) MMA champion in 2018 and held the title right up until the organization opted to shut down her division.

Many fans quickly called for the UFC to sign her, and that soon came to fruition, along with news of her imminent debut on home soil.

‘The Panda’ was handed an immediate chance to earn a ranking at 115 pounds against a veteran of the division in Angela Hill, who occupies the No. 14 spot in the weight class.

Consecutive losses had left Hill with a 12-14 promotional record, but she moved closer to escaping that negative record by dominating Xiong at UFC Macau.

‘Overkill’ outstruck the Chinese newcomer on the feet, helping her move clear on the scorecards, all of which read 30-27 in the American’s favor.

‘The Panda’ defeated Meng Bo in her last ONE Championship bout at ONE Friday Fights 100, a result that made it 14 wins in her last 15 fights. Prior to the event on May 30, Xiong’s only defeat since 2015 came against the great Angela Lee.

With that run in mind, many fans were expecting big things from the 38-year-old inside the Octagon, and they were quick to draw conclusions when that did not come to fruition on Saturday.

“Don’t even think Xiong has an argument for a single round. Great fraud check by Hill and a truly great veteran performance.”

    “Fraud checked.”

“Xiong backed up an entire round (while) 2-0 down.”

    “There’s levels to this.”

“Turns out Xiong Jing Nan isn’t as good as I thought… former ONE champion is nothing in the UFC.”

“A true vet check. She completely dominated this fight as a +175 underdog….
