UFC set to debut new Octagon announcer with Bruce Buffer absent from Macau return

The full broadcast team for this weekend’s UFC event has been revealed.

On Saturday, Song Yadong faces Deiveson Figueiredo at UFC Macau from the Galaxy Arena.

While legendary announcer Bruce Buffer has no plans to retire anytime soon, he doesn’t travel to each and every event that the leading MMA promotion puts on.

With neither the veteran voice of the Octagon nor his usual replacement, Joe Martinez, in Macau this week, a third announcer will get the opportunity to make a big impression.

Justin Bernard gets his first announcer assignment for a UFC card in Macau

On May 26, MMA Junkie reported the details of the broadcast team who will be working this weekend’s UFC Macau card.

The most notable update was that May 30 will see Justin Bernard serve as the Octagon announcer at a UFC card for the first time.

While this is a big moment for him, Bernard is certainly no stranger to the promotion’s set up, having regularly been on the mic for Dana White’s Contender Series, UFC BJJ, & more.

Some fans in attendance might be disappointed that Bruce Buffer won’t be there but we saw Joe Martinez win a lot of people over with the energy he helped bring to UFC Perth earlier this month.

Martinez, who has become the voice of Zuffa Boxing, seemed to convince a lot of people that the UFC will be in good hands once Buffer does decide to step away.

Bernard now has the chance to make what may be a first impression on fans that don’t tune into the shows he regularly appears on.

Brendan Fitzgerald will be joined by Michael Bisping and Laura Sanko on commentary duties at the Galaxy Arena.

Over on the analyst desk, UFC veterans Michael Chiesa and Alan Jouban will work alongside John Gooden to break down the fights.

Due to the event taking place at local time in Macau, fight fans in the United States will likely need to temporarily alter their sleeping pattern in order to watch it live.
