Shamil Gaziev has revealed that he tips the scales well over 300lb when he isn’t preparing for a fight.
The Dagestani heavyweight is a cult figure with UFC fans, known for his knockouts as well as an unorthodox style and comical interviews. He is a big man standing at 6’4″, but far from the giants in his division, and holds a 3-2 record since arriving in the big leagues in 2023.
Gaziev is set to return to the octagon on May 2 for the first time since being knocked out by Waldo Cortes-Acosta back in November at UFC Qatar. He will take on Brando Peričić on the main card of UFC Perth.

Shamil Gaziev reveals ‘walking around weight’ ahead of UFC Perth cut
Throughout his three years in the UFC, including his contract-winning performance on Dana White’s Contender Series, there has been no issue with Shamil Gaziev’s weight. He comes in at the higher end, with a low of 259.5lb and highs of 262lb.
However, in a video with content creator Jaiden Cable, he revealed that it is not as easy as it looks to make weight for his fights. The UFC imposes an extended limit of 266lb on heavyweights, and he is considerably heavier than that out of camp.

When Cable asked Gaziev how much he weighs ‘walking around’, the Russian giggled before replying “140kg.” Cable seemed baffled, and searched just how much that is in pounds. He revealed that it amounts to almost 308lb.
The pair laughed about the number, as Gaziev put his head in his hands seemingly embarrassed to reveal his out of camp weight. He will have to make the 266lb limit again next weekend at UFC Perth, which takes place at a special start time due to it being in Australia.
