Dana White pays tribute to Brock Lesnar after UFC legend appears to retire at WrestleMania

Dana White was one of a number of big names featured in a tribute package to Brock Lesnar on Monday Night Raw tonight.

Lesnar has been done with fighting since a 2016 comeback that ended in a failed drugs test, but has remained involved in the WWE for almost a decade since. On Sunday night at WrestleMania 42 after losing a match to Oba Femi, he left his boots and gloves in the ring, seemingly retiring altogether.

The former heavyweight champion is now 48 years old, and had not built up to a retirement angle on the Las Vegas showcase. Fans had expected him to retire later this year at Summerslam which takes place in his home state of Minneapolis.

Brock Lesnar’s WWE retirement package features Dana White

After a relatively unceremonious retirement on Sunday night in Las Vegas, Brock Lesnar did not appear on Monday Night Raw after WrestleMania. Instead, the promotion aired a video package that appeared hastily thrown together, featuring old interviews with a number of key names.

There was even a tribute to his time in the UFC, which featured Dana White speaking about his phenomenal run from the start of 2008 to the end of 2011. Within just three UFC fights, and four in his entire career, the renowned collegiate wrestler won the heavyweight world title in a stunning feat.

“The guy comes over from the WWE,” White recalled. “And he actually becomes the heavyweight champion of the world. It’s impossible to do.”

Paul ‘Triple H’ Leveque also added that “anything you thought was happening all goes out the window because the dynamic of the room changes when ‘The Beast’ is here.”

Lesnar is an icon in the world of professional wrestling, having made the switch following a glittering NCAA championship career in his college days. He has had ten different reigns as some iteration of WWE champion, won two Royal Rumbles as well as a Money In The Bank and King of the Ring tournament.
