Manny Pacquiao believes that with the power of Netflix, his rematch against Floyd Mayweather at the Sphere will surpass their first clash.
Just a few days ago, Floyd Mayweather announced that he was breaking his nine year retirement to return to professional boxing.
That was after new details were reported regarding his controversial exhibition clash against Mike Tyson, which is rumored to take place in the Congo.
Despite that, Netflix surprisingly announced this Monday evening that a highly-anticipated rematch between Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao will take place from the Sphere on September 19.
Pacquiao believes Netflix’s power will make rematch bigger than first clash
Speaking for the first time since their rematch was announced, Manny Pacquiao claimed that their clash at the epic Sphere will outdo their first fight.
“Floyd and I gave the world what remains the biggest fight in boxing history,” Pacquiao said in a press release.
“The fans have waited long enough – they deserve this rematch, and it will be even bigger now that it will be streamed live globally on Netflix. I want Floyd to live with the one loss on his professional record and always remember who gave it to him.
“As always, I dedicate this fight to my fellow Filipinos around the world and to bringing glory to the Philippines,” he continued.
When the pair first clashed in 2015, they took part in the most successful boxing fight of all time, with the event generating over $600 million, including a record pay-per-view buy rate.

Mayweather predicts the same outcome in rematch
Although this will mark ‘Money’ Mayweather’s first professional fight since he fought Conor McGregor in 2017, ‘Pac Man’ has still been fighting at an elite level.
The 47-year-old returned last year, taking on Mario Barrios for the WBC world welterweight title, taking the champion to a majority draw.
Despite Pacquiao’s continued activity at the top level, Mayweather has predicted that the outcome will be the same as their first meeting.
“I already fought and beat Manny once. This time will be the same result,” Mayweather said in the press release.
