Martin Brundle’s verdict on 2025 Formula 1 season title fight between Lando Norris, Max Ve

Lando Norris is the new Formula 1 World Champion after 24 fine but challenging races. The highlights of his career were victories at Melbourne, Monaco and Austria as well as Silverstone in Hungary, Mexico and Brazil. His 18 podium finishes totaled 18.  Low moments include crashing into teammate Oscar Piastri with a clumsy maneuver in Canada, retiring in Zandvoort due to oil problems, failing to capitalize on Piastri’s disastrous weekend in Baku, finishing a disappointing seventh in Las Vegas, technical disqualification, and the poor strategy called by his team in Qatar that limited him to fourth. The season was certainly a rollercoaster.
Lando was able to handle this by improving his mind management skills. He began to convert pole into the lead after the first lap. A good example is Mexico’s incredible run to the first turn while slipstreaming all the pack behind him from pole. He placed his car very well in a 4-wide pack. Then he braked just right, claimed the chicane and then dominated the race.

He managed pressure situations better whether in qualifying, racing or even outside the car. He slowly stopped criticizing himself publicly, as it only encouraged his competitors. But he stayed true to himself and his racing style and learned to diffuse the moments when he was tempted to berate him to the world.
