Andy Murray disappointed with Novak Djokovic results in ‘difficult few months’ as coach |

Andy Murray said he was disappointed in Novak Djokovic during his tenure as the Serbian veteran’s coach. The duo’s working relationship lasted just six months, however, after they agreed to part ways back in May. They had partnered up for the Australian Open along with three other tournaments.
Murray became Djokovic’s coach in November 2024 – just three month after he had finished his playing career.

Djokovic defeated Carlos Alcaraz and reached the semi-finals of the Melbourne Open. The 24-time Grand Slam Champion was then forced into retirement due to an injury during his last-four match against Alexander Zverev. Murray stated: “I was very disappointed.” It’s possible that I didn’t achieve the results for him that I had hoped.
“But I thought it was an excellent opportunity, because I had always wanted to be a coach. If I hadn’t taken it, I would probably look back on it and say, “It could have been very interesting, and I could have learnt a lot”, or regret it.

Sky Sports Craig Slater talked to Djokovic during the Qatar Grand Prix about his future plans

“It started off well and I was sorry to hear about the injury in Australia, but he played some ridiculous tennis at that tournament.”
“After the injury it was a tough few months not only for him, but I believe for us all.”I learned so much about coaching. I gave my all, did everything in my power to help and developed some great relationships with the team.

Djokovic says it’s more challenging than it was when he was 10 years younger, but his game isn’t going to change and will keep going while he feels his body can put up with it

Murray, who was only a week younger than Djokovic at the time, said he had no regrets over his experience, despite its short duration.”I’m glad I did it.
