Belal Muhammad appears willing to take on Islam Makhachev in order to be the best
Islam Makhachev was clearly moving up to the next division after Jack Della Maddalena defeated Belal Muhammad for the welterweight championship in May.
The Russian, who has previously trained with the champion in lightweight, would have decided to keep his belt and not give it up if he had retained the belt.
Muhammad claimed that earlier this season he would not fight Makhachev, due to their close relationship. Instead, he would vacate his championship and move to middleweight.
However, with a win on November 22 potentially seeing him emerge as one of the new welterweight champion’s potential challengers, it appears that some things have changed.
