Colorado (13-1-5), which has won eight of its nineteen games in the 2025-2026 season, has only lost one game in regulation. Since then, Colorado has been 8-0-2. New Jersey Devils also won their two games, but they went beyond regulation both times. Anaheim lost all three games on the road. Montreal was defeated three times in their own home. Each week, I will rank the 10 best teams in the league based on their performance the week before and their overall record for 2025-26. I’ll also give brief synopsis for each club that explains why they’re ranked where they are.Let’s dive into the power ratings after Week 6 of the 2025-26 NHL season and highlight a few of the teams’ notable accomplishments.NHL Week 6 power ratings 1. Colorado Avalanche (3-0-0-0 in week 6; 13-1-5 in total)While Colorado’s two victories in the Week 5 were won by just one goal, one of which was in overtime, their three wins this past weekend – all on home ice- were by a combined three goals. Nathan MacKinnon increased his NHL leading point total to 34 with four assists, but was unable to score in Sunday’s win over the New York Islanders (4-1) ending his 11 game point streak. Cale Makar, who has 25 points and an assist for each of the last three games played, is the top defenseman. Martin Necas also scored four times in the past three games. Martin Necas now has 13 goals in 19 matches this season. The Avalanche were without Valeri Nichushkin in their last two games due to a lower-body injury but Brock Nelson has come alive, collecting two goals and two assists over his last three outings after producing only five points in his first 16 contests this campaign. 2. Dallas Stars (3.0-0; 12-4-3). The Stars won last week against the Ottawa Senators, Montreal Canadiens (in overtime) and Philadelphia Flyers. Their winning streak now stands at five games. Jason Robertson scored his sixth career hat-trick in Saturday’s victory over Philadelphia. This gives him three points each of his three last games, as well as six goal and four assist during his four game point streak. Mikko Robertson followed a seven point effort in Week 5, with a tally, and four assists last weekend. Roope Hitz has returned after a five game absence due to a non-disclosed injury. He has a six game point streak where he has three goals and five assist. New Jersey Devils (2-0-0; 13-4-1)The Devils, who beat the Washington Capitals by a shootout and the Chicago Blackhawks after overtime last week, are currently on a five game point streak. Jack Hughes recorded two assists in the game against Chicago, but a “freak injury” on Thursday required him to undergo surgery. He will be out of the lineup up to two month. Simon Nemec scored his first career three-goal match with an overtime winner, making him the first defenseman since Uli Hiemer to do so in 1984. Dawson Mercer’s ninth goal in the win against Chicago puts him second in the team. In Hughes’ absence, he will have to keep up the production. Los Angeles Kings (3-0-0; 10-5-0)Los Angeles won against Montreal in Week 6 and Ottawa the following week, sandwiching an overtime win over Toronto Maple Leafs. Quinton Byfield scored a goal and had an assist in the Kings’ two first victories, before assisting Alex Laferriere in the 1-0 win over the Senators on Saturday. The 23 year old right wing is second on the team, with 17, and has scored in five of the last six games. Adrian Kempe leads the way in scoring in consecutive games. Kempe, who is 29 years old, led Los Angeles’ scoring in each of the past two seasons. On Monday he was given a contract worth $85million for eight years. Kevin Fiala had scored in four straight games before Saturday’s victory, and three of the five previous ones. Carolina Hurricanes (1-0-1; 12-5-2-1)After winning their four games during Week 5, the Hurricanes had a mediocre week last week. They did, however, get back defenseman Shayne Gostsbehere, who missed six games with a lower body injury. The 32-year old was quick to get involved on offense, as he racked up five assists in Carolina’s first three games. This included three against Vancouver. Nikolaj Ehlers scored in two of the Hurricanes’ three contests and entered Monday with a seven-game point streak during which he has registered four goals and as many assists. 6. Boston Bruins (2-1-1; 12-8-0). The Bruins lost their seven-game streak Thursday in a 5-3 defeat at Ottawa. But they bounced right back two days later with a 3-1 victory over Montreal. David Pastrnak has three multi-point performances this week, with four goals and three assists. He is tied for the fourth place in the NHL in points. Morgan Geekie has 18 points to his name and scored in at least 11 of the 12 games he played before the Canadiens win on Saturday. The 27 year-old center scored a team-leading goal in a loss to the Senators. Charlie McAvoy, who took a puck in the face and may require surgery after taking a puck to his face in Montreal, could be out of action for a long time. Pittsburgh Penguins (0-1-1; 10-5-44)The Penguins scored three of the four points they could have earned last week when they finished the 2025 NHL Global Series Sweden with a 4-0 win and an overtime loss against the Nashville Predators. Evgeni, the two-time Art Ross Trophy recipient, has 23 points and scored in both matches. The 39 year old Russian centre has scored a goal in each of his last 8 games. He has also never failed to score in consecutive games this season. Sidney Crosby (two-time Hart and Art Ross Trophy winners) scored the team’s 12th goal on Sunday, while Sergei Murashov (21-year-old Russian netminder) turned away all 21 shots in his second NHL game to earn his first victory. Chicago Blackhawks (1-1-0; 9-5-44)Chicago increased its point streak last week to five games after a 3-2 win over Toronto and the overtime loss against New Jersey. Connor Bedard’s team-best 10th score against the Devils extended his point streak to 9 games, but was ended by the Maple Leafs. During his streak, the 2024 Calder Trophy-winner collected eight goals and 11 assists. Veteran left wing Nick Foligno ended his six-game point drought with a pair of assists against New Jersey but suffered a left hand injury in Saturday’s win and landed on injured reserve. 9. Seattle Kraken (9-4-5; 2-0-1)The Kraken scored five out of six possible points in Week 6. They lost to the Columbus Blue Jackets after a shootout, but won their final two home games against the Winnipeg Jets. Seattle won both games with Eeli tolvanen and Captain Jordan Eberle each scoring two goals. Jamie Oleksiak became more involved in offense by collecting three assists across the three games, after only registering two points (two goals) in his 15 first-round contests of this season. Chandler Stephenson racked up four assists, including three against Sharks, last week. Detroit Red Wings (2-1-0; 11-7-11) Detroit was outscored 10-2, losing all three of their games in Week 5, but bounced back nicely last week. They won against the Anaheim Ducks before falling to the New York Rangers, and then lost by overtime to the Buffalo Sabres. Alex DeBrincat scored two goals in both games, before scoring the first goal in the 2-1 win at New York on Sunday. The 27-year old right winger has had a streaky 2025-26 season. He began the year with an eight game goal drought, before scoring in four consecutive games. After that, he went four contests without scoring a goal, before going on his current three game run. Dylan Larkin led the Red Wings in scoring with 23 points. He had two goals and 2 assists last week. Lucas Raymond had six assists and a goal, Moritz Seider, the 2022 Calder Trophy winner, scored one goal and assisted on four others. Patrick Kane, a future Hall of Famer, also registered three assists and a score.
