No. 5 Georgia’s game at Mississippi State on Saturday had all the makings of a trap spot. The Bulldogs had just won a thrilling rivalry game against Florida, and now they were in cowbell country before next week’s showdown between Texas and the top-15. UGA played its best game of the year against this backdrop. After falling behind 7-1, Georgia scored a total of 38 unanswered touchdowns and cruised to an easy 41-21 win. Nate Frazier, a Bulldogs running back with a career high 181 yards rushing, led a complete offense for the Bulldogs. Georgia had its most rushing yards since 2018. Texas, No. Georgia Tech, still, is waiting for them. However the offense of Georgia may finally be finding its groove. The Bulldogs were virtually unstoppable for the second time this season. We’re giving grades to every team who started or finished the day with odds on national championships of +3000.
FanDuel Sportsbook has provided the following odds on 2025 national championships. The teams are listed according to their AP Top 25 ranking.
No. 1 Ohio StateGrade: B+Result: 34-10 win at PurdueTitle odds: +210Ohio State put a slow start in the rearview (it was 3-0 Purdue after the first quarter) and scored 34 unanswered while cruising to another dominant victory. Purdue’s lone touchdown came during garbage time. Despite this, the Boilermakers were able to win the game against the spread. The Buckeyes never faced any serious danger so it is hard to be too critical. The star quarterback Julian Sayin is criticized for his first interception after Sept. 13. The pick was ugly in the end zone.
No. 2 IndianaGrade: C+Result: 27-24 win at at Penn StateTitle odds: +550Indiana sputtered and stammered, blowing a 20-7 lead and finding itself in need of late-game heroics. Omar Cooper Jr. made two incredible catches. The first was a toe-tapping, go-ahead catch with just 36 seconds left. Fernando Mendoza was looking for redemption after a costly interception in the fourth quarter. Hoosiers’ defense left a lot to be desired in their matchup against Penn State’s previously mediocre offense. IU was fortunate to have survived without its best.
No. 3 Texas A&MGrade: A-Result: 38-17 win at No. 22 MissouriTitle odds: +700Texas A&M feasted on a Missouri team playing with its third-string quarterback. The Aggies never gave up a point until the late third quarter. They were also never really in danger. After a slow beginning, the Aggies’ offensive team did their part to dominate time of possession. They took care of the ball and produced explosive plays in the running game and the passing game.
No. 4 AlabamaGrade: B-Result: 20-9 win vs. LSUTitle odds: +800Alabama’s running game was virtually nonexistent again, and its passing attack was a tick off. Things became surprisingly tense during the fourth quarter. The defense, as usual bent without breaking at crucial moments. Bama wasn’t at its best but still did well enough to cover.
No. Tuscaloosa will be a tougher test for 12 Oklahoma on Saturday. Alabama must be more than what it was against LSU.
No. 5 GeorgiaGrade: AResult: 41-21 win at Mississippi StateTitle odds: +1000Georgia scored 38 unanswered points en route to a 41-21 win at Mississippi State. The spot was a trap game, a week following the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party. A week before No. The Bulldogs are in town to face No. 11 Texas, but they were on fire offensively, and made plenty of big passes. The defense stayed in place after an early touchdown, and they held Mississippi State’s powerful veer and shot attack in check.
No. 6 Ole MissGrade: AResult: 49-0 win vs. The CitadelTitle Odds: +1700Ole miss handled its November scrimmage in a poised manner, scoring 603 yards to cruise to a 49-0 win. Dae’Quan Wright – the star tight end who had been suffering from a shoulder injury – left during the first half. This was a cause for concern. After a 35-0 first half lead, the Rebels were still able to reduce the workload on their starters.
No. 8 Texas TechGrade: A-Result: 29-7 win vs. BYUTitle odds: +1700Texas Tech’s first win over an AP top 10 team since 2012 came in dominant fashion. The Red Raiders held BYU to only 4 of 17 third and fourth down tries and kept the Cougars scoreless until the fourth quarter. TTU’s offensive struggles were made easier with a 3-0 lead in the turnover battle. Texas Tech was a major factor in the Cougars’ poor performance.
No. 9 OregonGrade: C+Result: 18-16 win at No. Title odds: +1700 20 IowaGive Oregon credit for winning in bad weather against an excellent defensive opponent within a hostile environment. Ducks defense put playoff hopes on the line by giving up a 93-yard touchdown drive in the final quarter. Oregon did not score a single touchdown in the final three quarters. It’s still a win but the team hasn’t yet found its elite gear.
No. 10 Notre DameGrade: A-Result: 49-10 win vs. NavyTitle odds: +1100Notre Dame turned on the jets in the third quarter and pulled away for a dominant victory against a potentially tricky opponent. Fighting Irish with only two wins and no big victories, style and optics is important. They did a great job in the snowy conditions of looking like a playoff team.
