Sabalenka can book her spot in the semi-finals with a victory over Gauff, regardless of what happens to other matches. If Gauff wins straight sets and Pegula in straight sets, then both Americans go through, and Sabalenka is out. Swiatek beat Anisimova by 6-0, 6-0 at Wimbledon in July. But the American got her revenge a few months later when she reached the US Open final. Anisimova came back from a set behind, despite struggling with her game to defeat Madison Keys, on Monday. Swiatek had a collapse in the Rybakina match, losing 12 out of 13 final games, resulting in a 4-6 6-1 6-6-0 loss. Rybakina has already qualified for the semi-finals after winning against Swiatek, Anisimova and Keys. Keys withdrew due to illness after losing two matches and Ekaterina Alexanderova replaced her in the dead rubber. It’s all to play for in the second match between Swiatek and Anisimova, with the victor progressing to the semi-finals where they will face the winner of the other round-robin group.
