England lost in the semi-finals of the Women’s World Cup. Cricket Laura Wolvaardt, Marizanne Kapp and South Africa have won the Women’s World Cup in Guwahati by 125 runs. Wolvaardt’s 169 runs from 143 balls was the highest ever score by a South African player at a World Cup for Women. She helped the Proteas – who lost the coin toss – recover from 202-6 in order to post a commanding total of 319-7.
Kapp then added a quickfire score of 42, before making an incredible start with the ball. She dismissed Amy Jones and Tammy Beaumont, in a double wicket maiden. England fell to 1-3 at the end of the first seven balls.
