Kris Boyd said the Hearts victory showed they could take the title race to the end. The new Celtic boss Wilfried Nance praised the “really positive moments” he experienced during his debut as the club’s manager despite their 2-1 loss. The interim manager Martin O’Neill managed to close an eight-point deficit to the top with five consecutive league victories. However, Nancy’s opening goal handed the advantage to their visitors in a toothless home defeat of 2-1.
Nancy tried to stamp his authority in his new team, switching to a three-man back line for his first match. Despite a good opening 15 minutes with 72 per cent possession of the ball on the whole, they did not seriously test the visiting goalkeeper Alexander Schwolow before the final 10 minute.
Nancy did not deny that his team’s performance was good, but he said to Sky Sports: “We didn’t get the result we wanted, I just think we played a great first half.”

“We also had the opportunity to score.” We could have done a better job with the last pass, and also the execution. But I liked how we unbalanced the players to create opportunities.
“I’m sure we can improve on this because it was so interesting. We conceded the goal against momentum. When we watch the game again, I believe we can do better.
“We had a good start to the second half but we conceded a second goal during the transition. “We started the second half well, but we conceded the second goal in transition.”
“I believe that we have missed a few connections in regards to the ability to create a more cross than a more pass and get more numbers within the box.
