NFL Week 12 kicks off with an AFC showdown in the Lone Star State, as the 5-5 Houston Texans welcome Josh Allen and the 7-3 Buffalo Bills to town. The Texans just had their second straight win, a division-rivaling 16-13 victory against Tennessee Titans. While the Bills were victorious in a shootout 44-32 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Davis Mills will take over at quarterback for the Texans as C.J. Stroud is out for a second consecutive start because of his concussion. Mills has started 2-0 games this season and averages 283 yards passing per game. In those games, Mills has thrown only one interception and scored four touchdowns. However, he was also sacked on six occasions. The Bills got back to their winning ways last week in a game that featured nine lead changes, but they are still 1.5 games behind the surprising New England Patriots in the AFC East. Buffalo has a great opportunity to take advantage of a backup QB and a rushing attack that ranks in the bottom 10 out of all NFL teams.

Mills’ one start against the Bills in 2021, despite his recent success, was a disaster. In a loss of 40-0, he completed 11 out of 21 passes. He had 87 yards and zero touchdowns. His career high was four interceptions. Josh Allen is having bad luck in Houston. Allen’s regular-season record is 83-37, but his luck has been bad in H-Town. Allen started for the Bills twice, and both times they lost in Houston by a walk-off goal. Bills run defense has been a problem. Bills’ run defense is a problem. The Bills are the NFL’s No. The run defense is a problem. Buffalo has allowed the second most rushing yards in a game, with 153.0. They have also allowed six touchdowns rushing of 30 yards or more this season, which is tied for the highest number in NFL history. Although many believe that the Denver Broncos possess the NFL’s top defense, the title could actually belong to the Houston Texans. Houston is the league’s best at allowing 258.1 yards total per game and the most stingy when it comes time to score, with 16.3 points per game. Allen might not enjoy playing in Houston but he loves playing on Thursdays. Allen holds the record for best Thursday (8-0) of any starting quarterback since 1950. In his career, he has scored the most touchdowns of any player 30 years old or younger. His 28 total touchdowns are also the most in the NFL for this season. This is all to say that he’s a good enough player to be able to outperform the Texans.
The Texans made an impressive comeback in Week 10 against the Jacksonville Jaguars and won in Tennessee on Sunday despite scoring no points in the first-half. But the Bills will be a very different test. Buffalo covers the spread during primetime. Pick: Bills -5.5; Under 43.5
