UFC London stars may be snubbed again as Alexander Volkanovski vs Jean Silva ‘practically

According to reports, Lerone Murphy and Movsar Evloev are set to be snubbed from the UFC featherweight title fight again.

This coming Saturday in the premier promotion’s UFC London main event, Lerone Murphy and Movsar Evloev are set to clash.

The general consensus is that the winner of the main event between rank one and three in the division would go on to fight Alexander Volkanovski for the title next.

However, according to reports, Alexander ‘The Great’s’ next title defense is ‘practically confirmed’ already, and it’s not against the winner of this Saturday’s main event.

Reports suggest Alexander Volkanovski vs Jean Silva is set for International Fight Week

When his fight against Evloev was announced, Murphy made a concerning admission that he hadn’t been told it was a number one contender fight.

And now just days out from the main event in the UK capital, MMAHoje has reported that a fight between Volkanovski and Jean Silva is ‘practically confirmed’.

‘Lord’ Silva is coming off the back of a unanimous decision win over Arnold Allen earlier this year, and he is favored amongst fans over the likes of Murphy and Evloev because of his fight style.

Over the past few weeks, the Brazilian contender has been teasing some big upcoming news on his social media.

According to the reports, the featherweight title fight between Volkanovski and Silva is ‘practically confirmed’ to take place on International Fight Week this coming July.

Rumors have recently circulated that the promotion is negotiating with Conor McGregor to make his comeback on the International Fight Week card, after snubbing him of a place on the White House event.

If that is the case, the promotion may want a title fight to co-main the event considering the Irishman will likely not be fighting for a title in his comeback, despite likely being the main event.

Although some fans believe the winner of Evloev vs Murphy should fight Volkanovski next, they’re two fighters who often receive criticism because of their passive fight styles.

In fact, in just seven UFC fights compared to Evloev’s nine and Murphy’s 10, Silva already has more finishes than both fighters combined, which may be the reason why he is favored by the promotion.

Silva claims he is due for a meeting with Dana White to sign his contract

The Brazilian contender is on his way to London to watch the fight between Evloev and Murphy unfold.
