Troy Nash Snr happy with his son's spot in history after maiden Zuffa victory

    (Zuffa Boxing)

Troy Nash Jnr will go down in history as the first person to win a bout under the Zuffa Boxing banner.
Nash won a six-round unanimous decision over Jaycob Ramos on January 23 at the Meta Apex Center in Las Vegas and improved to 6-0-1 (1 KO).
He was named to BoxingScene’s 26 prospects to watch in 2026 and the 20-year-old from Colorado Springs, Colorado, entered the WBC Grand Prix, making it to the quarterfinals before having a draw with Muhamet Qamili. Due to an advanced scoring system, Qamili was ruled the winner and advanced. Nash was supposed to return in December, but instead became the first fighter to compete in the upstart league.
“We want the big fights in the coming years,” Nash Snr, trainer and father of Nash Jnr, said. “I think it will go down in history that my son was the first person to win a match in Zuffa Boxing. People will look at all he accomplished, and the fact that he was the first person to fight on a Zuffa card will be another notable feat of his career.”
Nash Snr explained Zuffa offered them something new. In Nash’s first seven fights, five of his opponents had undefeated records, and three were considered quality prospects.
“We took an untraditional way to this point,” Nash said. “I believed my son was ready for the best fighters in the world – and we aimed to prove it.”
Nash, who is keeping his son in the gym, believes that Zuffa will have a big impact on boxing, and people will reflect over the years about his son being in the maiden fight. Nash Snr, who uses the saying ‘the cream will rise to the top,’ believes that at one point, history will look back fondly on this moment.
“I really think it will be like a movie when you see an actor before they were in big movies appear quickly in a scene,” Nash Snr said. “Then, years later, you watch it go, ‘Hey, it is that guy.’ That is what I think is going to happen, as time goes by, people will look back and say Troy Nash was the first fighter to win a card on Zuffa Boxing.”
