Terry Bradshaw praised Jerry Jones’s decision when the Dallas Cowboys shocked the world by trading star edge rusher Micah Parsons back to the Green Bay Packers in August. Bradshaw, however, did not like the Cowboys latest big move.Bradshaw was not a fan of Dallas’ trade of New York Jets defensive lineman Quinnen Williams to the Cowboys ahead of Tuesday’s deadline for trades due to the amount of draft capital that had been given up as well as where Dallas is in the standings. Bradshaw stated on “FOX Sunday” that he wouldn’t have done it. “They won’t win the Super Bowl.” I’m sure they have these draft choices. I would’ve kept the No. 1. I would not have given it up. They’re rushing pass right now. I would never have done that. The Cowboys traded two draft picks (a 2026 second-round selection and a 2027 first round pick) for Williams, along with defensive lineman Mazi Smith. Dallas still has three picks for the first round in the next two seasons. Bradshaw, when Dallas decided to trade Parsons back in August, thought that the Cowboys would be in the same position as when they made their Herschel-Walker trade in 1989. Bradshaw said that in September, “Jerry Jones was under no obligation to justify this trade.” This is not the Jimmy Johnson deal when Jimmy traded Herschel for Walker and then they sold six players in order to get six picks. This is the same. Good move Jerry Jones.” NFL Trade Deadline: Did Cowboys & Colts Give Away Too Much? Bradshaw thinks the Cowboys made a bad trade, but Williams is a player who will benefit their defense. Williams has been named All-Pro since 2022, and a Pro Bowler each of the last three seasons. He has also drawn double teams for most of his career. This could explain why some of his statistics (32 tackles total, a forced fumble and a single sack) may not be as impressive. In addition, he is ranked 17th among defensive linemen in pass rush rate (10%). He also ranks second in run-stop win rate (47%). And he’s 25th for pressures (19). This will be a huge boost to a Dallas team that has ranked 17th this season in sacks (2.2), and second-to last in total defense (397.4 yard allowed per match) and scoring defense (30.8% points allowed). Williams, and linebacker Logan Wilson who they acquired just before the deadline, will not be enough for the Cowboys to win a Super Bowl. Williams is a good long-term trade for the Cowboys, as his contract of four years and $96million has two more years. Jay Glazer claimed that the Cowboys were interested in Williams for some time. Glazer revealed that “the Cowboys tried to get Quinnen Williams all the way back during the summer.” They wanted to trade Micah Parsons and a draft choice to the Jets for Quinnen Williams. Jets were not interested at the time. Cowboys were aware of the deadline as it approached. ‘I think we can get him.’ They were willing to do anything to get him. Quinnen was ecstatic to be able to obtain him. Want the best stories delivered to your inbox every day?
